transport & travel
This is how we shall be arriving at our wedding in Bentota. Travel arrangements, for us both, for the reception in Barnard Castle is to be arranged.
Information about how you can get to wedding reception.
Train Information
There are several direct trains from London and Lincoln, to the local train station, Darlington. See GNER Train Times
Bus Information
Again there are several buses that will take you to Darlington. See National Express Train Times
Please be warned that if taking the bus or train you will need to stop at Darlington. There are NO mainline routes to Barnard Castle.
If people do decide to travel using mainline buses and trains there is a bus route from Darlington to Barnard Castle. The bus is either the 75 or 76 buses that leave outside the indoor market on the main street of Darlington. About 10minutes walk from the train station and 5 minutes walk from the National Express bus station. I am sure that if you ask anyone in Darlington for directions etc they will be most obliging.
Driving Information
Or you can drive there (from London) in about 6 hours and from Lincoln 2 hours. Although you are best planning the route from multimap, you need to head north towards A1 and it's well sign posted from there. If driving remember to turn off the A1 at Scotch Corner Services heading towards Brough and Penrith on A66. We recomend plenty of stops along the way. Halfway point between Lincoln and Barnard Castle would be Ferrybridge services.
